It was a hard decision to start another blog, but I realized there was too much I wanted to say to post on a personal blog.
Getting Back to Basics is exactly that. It's more than frugal living or how to make a few extra bucks. It's about creating the Have-More life without donating a spleen.
There will be a few stories, a few memories, and a regular convoy of hints for your home, garden, pets and money.
That said, you might be wondering about those two Frugal Way books I promised--one on grocery shopping, the other on garage sales. I've decided to do something appalling and keep them off the shelf until next year.
:cue worldwide gasp:
My plan is to have several books ready to roll by the Spring of 2013. In between now and then, I'm going to need your help. As you read my posts from here on out, tweet them, share them on Facebook, or on your blog. Assure your friends I don't bite--well, not hard anyway. :o)
Put this blog on your RSS feed or Reader and Like my Facebook page for all the latest deals, tips and posts. I'll be posting regularly from now on.
Meanwhile, look around. Feel free to leave me suggestions on what else to add to this blog. Let me know if something isn't working right on your browser. (I've only checked it on three browsers, so I can't be sure everything is viewable yet.)
Welcome!
Welcome!
Tomorrow: A walkabout at the new blog

Welcome on your first day with your new venture Maria, looking forward to those tips to come! Not sure how you plan on keeping 2 blogs and FB page going without losing your mind but have fun.

Jackie: LOL. This is why I didn't want to say anything until I was sure I had enough material.
As for sanity...that became in short supply a long time ago.

Well at least you will have company, us insane people stick together! LOL
Have a vet checkup for my Chi this morning, stayed up most of last night with back pain so am going to try and cat-nap for half hour before getting up again to take the poor dog for his yearly exam and all his shots. :(

Yay! Now I'm so exited to read the rest of this blog. Where are all the other posts? Why are you making me wait for them?
I can't wait to read the frugal books. I'm not much of a garage sale buyer so that I don't need asap, but I want to read the grocery shopping one. I suck at buying groceries. I always spend more and buy things I don't need or buy too much and half goes to waste. I've been good lately by getting very little but then I have to go grocery shopping more often and I hate doing that. I can't win! I just suck at food shopping.

Hurrah on the new blog! The house we're buying (thanks for your comment on my blog, btw) is on .21 acres, and I want to turn the place into an urban homestead, hehe. We've already got plans to get chickens & a couple ducks once we have a coop & pen to contain them with :)
Can't wait to see what you have to say on the "back to basics" topic!

Jackie: Maybe while you're at the vet you can hop up on his table and he'll take a look at you too. :)
Angelina: Patience is a virtue--and a pain in the neck.
Rebekah: You are going to LOVE your little urban homestead. It's the best thing I've ever done.

I really love the template on this blog. It's so pretty and happy!

Raelyn: Thank you. There was one other I liked, but apparently the artist removed it from use.
Linda: Thanks! This blog and the sister FB page mean so much to me. I just want to be able to share what I've learned along the way.
Sarah: That's what I was going for. I wanted something cheerful and positive.

I am enjoying the new blog so far! :)
Maria Zannini said...
Kimber: It should pick up quite a bit next week.
On the other hand I have found tons of freebies and good deals that I posted on the sister FB page.
Some days I can't find anything good, and other days I hit the jackpot.

The blog looks great. I'm so intrigued by your frugal project - and wowed by your self control in waiting till next year to put out your books. Good luck!
Maria Zannini said...
Jenny: There's something to be said for restraint. :)
As I was examining the avalanche of books that release daily, it occurred to me that many of these will simply fade from memory within a couple of weeks--even some of the big names.
That's why I decided to build the fan base first. If I can provide useful content, then maybe my followers will take me more seriously when my books release.
