Sanitize your kitchen sponges by microwaving them. Nuke your wet sponge for two whole minutes. That should kill most, if not all the germs on the sponge. Make sure there are no metal fibers in the sponge. Plastic only.

Be careful when removing the sponge from the microwave as it will be HOT.

I use a natural fiber brush in the kitchen and just drop that into the dishwasher each night when I run a load. But this is an awesome idea for the sponges I use to clean the bathrooms!

I like this trick too. I use my microwave a lot more often than I use my dishwasher. But then I only cook for myself most days.

Here I was avoiding those sponges because of the germ issue. Now I have a fix for that minor prob. Thanks, Maria.

Linda: I wish I had linked to the diagnostic report I read. It said it killed at the least 98% if not all the germs.

Angela: I used to buy sponges in bulk because I threw them out after a few uses. Now I can use them a lot longer.
