Nothing I tell you will really describe me, but I'll give it a try.
Wife: I've been married forever to the same man. We had to marry each other. No one else would take us.
Author: Believe it or not, I fell into writing by accident. I wrote a letter to the editor of a country living magazine. A phone call later, he had convinced me to write 'my' story.
My articles elicited letters from all over the world and it made me wonder if I could do this for a living. Then I started writing sexy paranormal romance and things REALLY got interesting.
Homesteader: Well, that's the plan anyway. We bought six acres in the middle of nowhere and we're slowly converting our little Texas paradise into a self-sufficient homestead. It's the ultimate life experiment complete with bruises, sprains, and sore muscles.
Presently, we raise chickens, but hope to add goats soon. I'd like to add other livestock to our little farm, but I haven't mentioned it the husband yet. I prefer to leave a little mystery in our lives. It helps keep his blood pressure down.
Dog-lover: We've had kitties too, but dogs have been with us all our married lives. Almost all of them have been rescues. In another life, I was a surgical veterinary assistant. Now I serve as head chef and massage therapist for overly pampered pooches.
If there is an Afterlife, I want to come back as one of my dogs.
About this blog
The nice thing about having been around for so many decades is that you get a feel for history and what's changed between then and now. I made a startling discovery about society in general.
We have too many choices.
Yup. It's as simple as that. At no other time in history have we been allowed more choices than today. Our choices run the gamut in food, electronics, books, music, vacations, homes, toys, cars, clothes, even designer dogs.
It's this overwhelming abundance that sends mixed signals to all of us. We want these things, and sometimes we get them even if we can't afford them. That's why I call this blog, Getting Back to Basics.
Choices are good. But smart choices are even better.

I'm glad you're here!
